Japan is home to some of the most incredible displays of hydrangeas. Their showy, but delicate, long-lasting flowers in shades of pink, white or blue are a beloved staple of Japanese summers, making a vibrant addition to many gardens, roadsides, and city centres. Some of the most impressive collections can be found in the grounds of temples and shrines, such as the famous Mimuroto-ji Temple in Kyoto, also known as the Temple of Flowers, whose display of Hydrangeas is second to none in Japan. In June, over 10,000 plants, representing around 50 species of Hydrangea come into bloom, turning the gardens into a sea of flowers, ranging from pale blue to vibrant fuchsia.
Our Hydrangea collection captures the beauty of these elegant flowers in glass, displaying the intricate details of each petal.
